Face to face with a stick wielding gang at Perth Pride Parade

Ponder this: What would you do if one night while driving around town, Northbridge to be precise, you turned left into a dark side street on the wrong side of ‘prostitutes park’, and was confronted by a stick wielding gang descending on your car? This was my dilemma last Saturday night.

Thankfully the sticks being wielded also housed large blue mushroom shaped lanterns and the ‘gang’ was an assortment of Greens politicians.
Mind you, not being in a Prius I did ponder whether this was a turn for the better or worse.
The ‘gang’ was followed by an old lady being pushed in an oversized bed, a couple of Admirals, and a cage of gyrating party goers.
So it was that I found myself in the middle of the 2012 Pride Parade. There was only one thing to do …

Stop and take photos naturally.

During the parade I also met the delightful Mark, one of the original members who marched on parliament. Thanks to Mark dancing up a storm next to me, I was showered in smiles, ‘happy pride’ salutations, lollypops and at one stage a pink beaded necklace. The next few posts will give you a taste of the night’s events.

The parade started with some uniform clad gentlemen, who seemed to be being stalked by an assortment of butterflies and angels
