Bob Trevino Likes It is a movie about finding your power through knowing who to listen to and who to ignore. This seemingly gentle movie packs a punch you don’t see coming. Don’t miss this one.

Bob Trevino Likes It
Twenty year old Lily Trevino (Barbie Ferreira) is a care support worker for Daphne (Laurne ‘Lolo’ Spencer). While projecting a carefree, happy attitude to others, she has no friends and lives her life online. Her father Robert (French Stewart) is a narcissistic womanizing retiree focused on finding a new wife amongst the village residents.
When Robert introduces Lily to a potential bride, she mistakenly mixes up his women and ruins his chances. Furious he casts her out of his life.
Retreating to her safe place online, Lily searches for her father online only to accidentally befriend a stranger with the Bob Trevino name.
The new Bob Trevino (John Leguizamo) is also stuck in life, his wife distant after a family tragedy. He isn’t really into social media but for some reason when he notices the message he replies.
As their friendship develops Bob shows more interest in Lily than she’s ever had before, as he learns to open up about his own struggles.
Bob Trevino Likes It is a movie about working out who to listen to, how small acts of compassion can make a huge difference and ultimately finding yourself.
As the audience wiped their tears and clapped at the end of the movie I pondered:
- This is an unusual role for Leguizamo and he carries it off perfectly;
- The friendship between Ferreira and Leguizamo is utterly believable which is no small feat given the age difference;
- The fact the movie is inspired by experiences from the writer/director’s own life adds to the potency;
- There will be tears and it will make you want to hug your loved ones;
- This is a movie worth seeking out.
