Well what an interesting few days that was.
Thanks John Ashcroft |
On Wednesday morning I woke and contemplated taking the day off. The plan was to sleep in, dawdle over breakfast, go hang out at the beach for a while, hide out in a movie and maybe start one of the 6 books that are still sitting waiting for attention on the end of my desk. I even contemplated a 24 hour withdrawal from my laptop. I know, I know, what was I thinking. In this era of compulsory connectivity, 24 hours away from the dull lit screen is social suicide.
Luckily sanity prevailed and at 9am I logged on, only to find the now famous email stating that not only had I been entered into the worldwide Domino Project competition, but I’d made it into the final round.
The last line of the email highlighted that I had roughly 24 hours to get as many votes as I could. Not wanting to disappoint my friend, my fingers instantly took on the appearance of humming bird wings, and a flurry of emails was sent.
By nightfall I ventured onto The Domino Project and was astonished to find around 70 votes had been made and the rating was sitting at 8.5 out of 10. The resulting fallout of publicity, emails, and orders have kept me busy for the passed couple of days or I would have been on here sooner, however before I do anything else I’d like to stop and say….
- A massive thank you to everyone who took a few minutes out of their day to vote. I really appreciate the fact that we could reward my friend for her kind gesture.
- Sincere thanks to those people who sent me beautiful emails, they will be printed out and put up on the wall in front of my desk to keep me motivated.
- Thank you also to the people who have ordered copies of 50 Ways To Grieve Your Lover, every order really does warm my heart a little more.
- Welcome to all those new readers who have just found the blog, I hope you get something out of dropping by.
I think the final outcome of the competition will be announced around April 11, when they’ll outline which pieces made it into the book and which didn’t. I’ll let you know what happens, but for me it really doesn’t matter as the experience so far has been amazing.
Now I’d better get back to writing or you will all disappear.
