With New Year’s Eve fast approaching this post is a throw back to last year when we had a fantastic night, one of our top ten New Years. A small group of us gathered on the deck at Barmah on the Point.
The evening started with a huge antipasto table where patrons could design their own tasting board. This was mine. The wide range of cheeses on offer were also available at the end of the evening, for those who had room, which was none of my group, we could hardly stand.
Also on offer was a cold tomato soup made with love by Stefano, the resident expert on all things Italian. This was a new sensation for me. The verdict, delicious.
Next up a choice of two mains. Salmon salad, which was extremely generous in terms of both salmon and avocado. You don’t always get this in a restaurant. Often the plate is overloaded with lettuce so you have to search for the salmon.
Alternatively the beef steak meal was melt in the mouth perfect. This dish came served with creamy potatoes and gravy. What more do you need? Salad evidently … there was a choice of two salads to squeeze onto your plate. The plating of the salads below was mine, so please ignore the thrown together on approach, and abundance of red onion (a favourite of mine).
To finish there was a chocolate brownie combined with another Stefano creation. We were all extremely pleased that the brownie was taster size. If not we were in danger of having to be crow-barred out of our seats.
The delivery of the meal was perfectly timed so we could watch the midnight fireworks going off at Burswood.
As I said, all in all it was an absolutely perfect night. The delicious food was only surpassed by the service. Tony, Stefano and all the crew are perfect hosts. I’ve never had a New Years out on the town that was so satisfying while also being stress free and safe. Thanks guys.
