For years I’ve been driving past Public House and hoping to go inside one day. Well that day finally came. Now I’m not sure how I’m going to stop from going back on a monthly basis. The venue and food is excellent and you get a free movie.
Really it’s all about the food isn’t it, so why wait here’s what we picked from the Latin American tapas menu.
First up vegetarian empanada was nice and spicy ($6 each)
A slider, the fish was in a light crispy batter ($6 each)
Local greens with a lime, burnt miso, chipotle butter sauce.
Burger of brisket with BBQ slaw and fries was the special of the day
Sweet potato chips didn’t last long enough for a photo, and the prawns didn’t fare much better.
Even though we had absolutely no room left some of us struggled through …
Fried banana, vanilla ice cream, candied popcorn and caramel, I never say OMG but OMG!!!
Ice Cream sandwich for grown ups.
A coffee, um, sad to say I was in a food coma by then so can’t remember sorry.
The service was excellent, just the right amount of helping and leaving a group of giggling women alone. The venue was easy to hear everyone talk.
There’s a private dining room which was a good size, not to big to make a smaller group feel lost.
And as promised a free movie thrown in. Well what would you do if your restaurant looked out at a blank white wall, very clever.
As our group eventually left and wandered onto the Terrace I pondered …
- I’d go back for the desserts alone, each one could be in the running for best dessert so far.
- If I order I side of greens I could feel less guilty about the desserts, but maybe not when they taste this good too
- Must try adding miso to my greens at home.
- I think the movie could be a very useful conversation device during a first date.
