Three strategies to help men dress for Melbourne Cup 2014

2

Melbourne Cup Day is synonymous with style. For months females have been planning their outfits, researching, refining and returning. Then there are our male folk. Consumer research repeatedly tells us of men’s ability to treat shopping as a speed sport. No sooner have they entered a store than they want to get out. In the interest of sexual equality I thought I’d tell you about one store that appears to have developed three strategies to help …

Regular female Cup goers start planning the next years outfit as soon as the horses have bolted. Actually some start before that, casting a critical eye over the other women around them.  Weeks out the dress, hat and shoes have been chosen, modelled and set aside.

While it’s true that a handful of stylish Perth men can be relied on to fly the flag for their kind, all too often this is not the case.

This store in Innaloo Shopping Centre clearly understands the needs of its male customers, and have developed three strategies to help:

  1. Male shoppers can make their choice without even having to step inside the store. They just have to pass by the window.
  2. There are only three options available.
  3. And if they’re still having trouble making a decision there’s this sweetener … you get a watch too.
So that’s our men sorted then.

Suit, tie and watch all purchased within the time it takes to walk into the store and hand over their credit card. That’s got to be a PB for some.

The only snag that I can see in this strategy is the dreaded ‘oh god is he wearing the same suit as me?’ dilemma. But hopefully a couple of beers will fix that.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you, fellow Racegoers.
Stay safe tomorrow. May your horse win and more importantly ladies … your shoes stay on.
Share.

  1. Being a speed shopper I’d appreciate any improvement a shop can provide to further increase my selecting speed. I don’t care how many other blokes I see wearing the same outfit that I have chosen. Just proves that we have good taste. But I can also understand the ladies being upset if they run into another in the same outfit. Anyway the ladies always look 100% better then their male counterparts. But the idea of a few beers or a good wine appeals, so long as I am not driving.
