Wandering around Sydney last week I was reminded about the importance of making the most of stolen moments. Those one or two hours where you can either sit in a hotel room watching the news on television, or take a step outside the door, and embark on your own unplanned adventure. Maybe, just maybe, you might be rewarded for your effort.

With only an hour to spare I caught a cab to The Rocks. Ignoring the usual suspects, the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, I made my way to the Museum of Contemporary Arts.

On the way, for some reason I looked left and spied something at the end of a wide laneway. Something about it looked vaguely familiar.
It looked like a piece by Portugal’s famous street artist Vhils (aka Alexandre Farto), who I profiled earlier with his Fremantle piece. here
This time the subject was the well known Jack Mundey.
While spellbinding in execution, it wasn’t the subject matter or result, that captured my attention. It was the chance moment of when a stranger walked up the stairs and into the recesses of Jacks brain.
Just at that moment I pondered …
- Maybe the voices in our heads are real?
- What a shame Vhils work is hidden down the end of the street.
The mural is in Globe Street The Rocks Sydney.
