The minute you step foot into the Full Moon Thai Restaurant all your senses kick in and they don’t stop until it’s time to leave. Normally such a heightened level of clutter would leave consumers feeling overwhelmed and confused, yet the opposite seems to be true at the Full Moon. Could this exception to the rule be onto something? Could it be the best Thai restaurant in Perth?

The Full Moon is tucked away in an small old Mount Lawley strip, making it easy to drive on by, something I have done for many years. Inside it’s a prime example of not judging a book by its cover.

The walls flash with gold, statues and photos, like you’ve stumbled into someone’s small front lounge to admire their collection of cherished belongings.
The service is the perfect mix of professional friendliness and calm. Knowing when to approach and when to keep away is a skill, and perhaps its this calmness that counters any feelings of confusion. But it’s the food that tips the experience over the edge to something truly satisfying.
A simple order of Money Bags made us realise this meal was going to be unique.

Normally Money Bags are small cherry tomato sized mouthfuls, at the Moon the bags had swollen way beyond golf ball size.
Packed tightly with filling, two of either the meat or vegetarian options would be more than enough for lunch.
The spring rolls were equally huge. The usually slim fingers had been replaced with crispy rolls that would give any pricey Cuban cigar a run for its money.

We were beginning to ponder the excess of food we’d ordered.
Thankfully the mains were a good size without being wasteful. The stir fry vegetables were crisp, full of flavour and with no hint of leftover offcuts.

The Prawn Green Curry made a good change from chicken and the other meat dishes were equally fresh and rich.
Sadly any notion of desserts was squashed as we all sat back from the table unable to move.

I highly recommend the Full Moon Thai Restaurant for dine in or takeaway.
Is it the best Thai I ponder …?
While I haven’t completed the research yet, given the immense satisfaction at our table plus the fact that the restaurant was full (several times over) on a midweek night, it must be close.

Must agree with you. This Thai restaurant’s food is equal to the very best Asian food available in Perth. The pity is they appear to have to turn away some dine in customers because of the limited seating. But then perhaps this is an advantage as those wishing to dine there learn that it is important to book ahead
Very good point anon I know I’ll book
Yum, now I am very hungry and it’s only 4.30pm xxxx
May have to meet there sometime
