Russell Crowe does good ex-cop it cannot be deigned, and the Sleeping Dogs movie is another prime example.
Retired homicide detective Roy Freeman (Russell Crowe) is having a tough time. We meet him in the doctor’s surgery getting a checkup having undergoing cutting-edge Alzheimer’s treatment. To help with his progress he’s tasked with going through an old case.
The case focuses on the brutal murder of Dr Josheph Weider (Marton Csokas) who just so happens to be undertaking breakthrough research into memory. To help him Freeman looks up his old partner Jimmy Remis (Tommy Flanagan).
Along the way we meet the sultry Laura Baines (Karen Gillan) who may not be all that she seems.
But as Freeman gets closer to solving the mystery, he starts to remember secrets from his past. Will they help or hinder the investigation?
As the credits rolled I pondered:
- It was great to see Crowe back on the big screen, I’d forgotten what a good actor Crowe is;
- Flanagan and Gillan provide great foil to Crowe;
- Who doesn’t love a movie with a twist?
- The movie Sleeping Dogs is well worth a look;
