I first saw Charlie Caper a few years back at a Fringe World media preview morning, I always regretted not getting a ticket to his show. So, this year I made sure I got in quick because his shows sell out. His Fringe show was a mesmerizing hour of disbelief. Don’t miss it.
Some of you may remember Charlie from Sweden’s Got Talent. If you do you’ll know he went on to win, not an easy feat for a magic act. Since playing with magic as an eight-year-old, to performing on the streets of Convent Garden he’s gone on to sell out at the Edinburgh Fringe and take home a swag of awards.
You may think you know what to expect in a magic show but that’s not the case with Charlie. Charlie has taken magic to a new level incorporating modern techniques to hilarious effect.
His warmup is a show in itself. The show includes card tricks (but not as you know them), slight of hand and animatronics. After the show I asked him if he’d ever counted up how many tricks he did. He hadn’t, but said the show was split into eleven sections, not that you’d know this watching on, it’s just a blurb of “what the hell?”
Eleven acts in an hour, with countless rapid-fire tricks in each act, DO NOT look away for a second.
