Movie Review: The Man In The Hat

0

The Man In The Hat movie had me at Fiat Bambino. Add in the silent movie escapade approach, the travel through northern France and I was sold. A fun, quirky movie ideal for anyone missing overseas travel.

The Man In The Hat starts off with our man witnessing something he perhaps shouldn’t have. As a result Five Bald Men start approaching him as he finishes off his meal at a sidewalk cafe. Thankfully a timely misdirection helps him make his escape.

Setting off from Marseilles in a small Fiat 500, on the seat beside him we notice a framed photograph of an unknown woman.

As he travels North through France, he encounters razeteurs, women with stories to tell, bullfights, plenty of delicious food, a damp man, mechanics, nuns, a convention of Chrystallographers and much more. And always, on his tail, the Five Bald Men. Will he get away? And who is the woman in the picture?

The Man In The Hat is the kind of movie that you have to fall into and let it waft over you. As the journey deepens don’t try to work out all the elements, just go along for the ride .
