Movie Review: Love Sarah

0

The movies are back baby! And after the gloomy time we’ve had what better than a sweet feel good escape. Love Sarah is just what the doctor ordered.

Thanks Love Sarah

Love Sarah tells the story of Clarisa (Shannon Tarbet), a promising ballerina who loses her mother Sarah at the beginning of the movie. Her passing is handled delicately and quickly which the audience will be pleased about at the moment.

Sarah, a renowned chef, was on her way to open up a bakery with her friend Isabella (Shelley Conn). The location had been found and the finances committed. The only problem is now the business faces no chef, and a huge debt before they have even opened their doors.

After much pondering Clarisa decided to forge ahead with the business. To do so she enlists the help of her grandmother Mimi (Celia Imrie) who hadn’t spoken to Sarah for some time. The search for a chef sees Michelin-star awarded Matthew (Rupert Penny-Jones) complete the team.

The team must overcome their issues, and confide in each other, as they fit out the store and get ready to open the shop doors. Along the way they come under the scrutiny of Flexi (Bill Paterson), a inventor living across the road.

When the customers don’t come, they start to doubt their existence. That is until Mimi stumbles across a potential unique selling point. Acknowledging the multicultural nature of London, the team sets about making ‘a home away from home’ for foodies.

Love Sarah is a welcome, feel good sweet treat after such dark times. I was left me pondering:

  1. The movie is a terrific example for anyone wanting to start a business – a reminder to look for a unique selling point;
  2. The business is a great idea, I wonder if anyone has already done it in real life?
  3. Excellent movie for foodies;
  4. Not your usual role for Penny-Jones, I kept wondering when he was going to jump over the counter and chase after someone. Pity any petty theft stealing a croissant;
  5. While several parts of the story line are predictable it’s still a nice treat;
  6. Eat beforehand.
