Prior to the Covid-19 lockdown, word went out amongst my friends that Garum Restaurant had a happy hour. Situated within the gorgeous European-inspired Westin complex in East Perth, the restaurant is the perfect distance to ride, walk or Uber to. And so, even with the threat of rain, it was on.

There was no intention to eat out that night but then a trip to the restrooms half way through the evening had us passing the open kitchen. Right next to the kitchen was a bench of fabulous looking bread. How could we not?
Yes the bread was good but even better was the quail.

Once one order of this dish came to the talk it was a case of “I’ll have what he’s having”. Succulent and juicy it was the perfect accompaniment to a night of cocktails and gossip.
The atmosphere was excellent and we stayed way beyond happy hour. Sadly the only thing letting the evening down was the service, which was a bit hit and miss.
