Food Review: Kinky Lizard Espresso Bar

A few months back (and prior to Covid-19), the City of Perth relaxed their parking laws. As a result people could drop into East Perth for a quick breakfast prior to an innercity meeting. With street parking just outside, the Kinky Lizard Espresso Bar is in a perfect position to nip into, once we’re allowed to.

First impressions are becoming more and more important in the cafe scene and Kinky Lizard doesn’t let us down. The muted wood tones give off a relaxing feel and the comfy high back chairs further support this.

The menu is a good size without being overwhelming. With my search for the perfect scrambled eggs continuing there was only one choice.

The scrambled eggs were soft and fluffy as they should be, with no watery ooze as is sometimes the case. There are a range of extras you can add but for me the eggs were more than enough. The counter offers a range of interesting options.

Customers can choose to sit inside or in the verandah along one side of the cafe.

The service is excellent, they won’t hurry you out at the end of the day, and they provide the newspaper.

Kinky Lizard is a great place to drop into if you’re in the city.
