Review: Six Senses Restaurant Leederville

Those of you old enough may remember the very first trendy restaurant to take its place on the Leederville café strip, an Italian café called Giardini’s. The restaurant remained a popular noisy hub for many years. Strange then that the same space seems to have caused problematic for all those that followed. The latest incarnation is Six Senses.

Boasting gourmet Thai, the interior certainly lives  up to the name. Stepping through the candle lit entrance and into the dark wood rich interior certainly feels very special. The owners have appear to have spent a pretty penny on the fit out.  For most of the previous incarnations you could easily see the skeleton of the old Italian restaurant, not so now. The restaurant beautiful, especially the backroom, although  a bit strange for a Thai restaurant to have such a Moroccan feel.

There are several setting options – standard tables, booths, the bar and the back room. The area out the back would be fabulous for a private function.

We opted for one of the ‘booths’ which proved perfect for a gaggling group of bloggers.

A pretty ambiance is one thing but what about the food? The menu offers set dishes and the ability to make your own combination. Our group of six opted for the tried and true as we couldn’t be bothered creating our own.

The stir-fried pumpkin proved popular with three of us. Packed with tofu, snow peas, capsicum and eggs it was delicious.

Back home with dinner approaching the texts came in. Their list of dinner menus included a mango, nothing and three chocolates. Hours on no one had room to eat. As I ponder the wonderful afternoon we’d had my main hope is that this one will last a little longer.

Six Senses restaurants are in Subiaco and Leederville.

At the time of writing there was no Six Senses Leederville on Zomato so here is the Subiaco link.
