Hmm, well I was fairly sure I’d already posted about Isle of Voyage but evidently not. I’ve been there three times now, once on my own and twice with different groups of people. On all occasions we’ve had an excellent experience. Here is the review of my initial experience when they had only been open for a few days.
On this occasion I happened to be passing by Elizabeth Quay and saw the door was open. The person at the door asked if I wanted to come in and ‘take a look’. That quick peak turned into a latte, a cake and an hour of pondering off into the distance.
At the time I was surprised at the casual atmosphere. Staff were in jeans and yellow striped t-shirts and the décor was light and fresh. This was a far cry from the original formal stance of the restaurant when it sat in the shadow of St Georges Terrace buildings.
There’s no denying the architecture is beautiful, and a perfect haven for a hot Perth summers day.
The afternoon tea cake offerings were huge, seriously how can you choose.
My cake was a deliciously moist pumpkin inspired, nut crusted morsel.
As I sat watching the world go by I pondered:
- What a wonderful place for a relaxing afternoon tea;
- I can imagine some people being disappointed if they thought they were coming to an upmarket restaurant, hopefully this perception will fade once the public becomes more aware of its positioning;
- The main problem I can imagine is people sitting for too long without ordering anything.
