When I first drove passed DuoTone I thought it was just another small ‘hole in the wall’ café but I was wrong.
Inside the café has a fresh, modern feel that makes it seem much larger than it is. The clean lines, bright yellow stools, and wall displays give it a Japanese feel . The food was also a surprise for example …
On offer was a Winter Vegetable Bowl with sweet potato, cauliflower, kale, avocado, seed mix, and cashew dressing ($19). You can add a choice of protein.
Or pulled pork polenta with quinoa parmesan polenta chips, smoked pulled pork shoulder, black olive, rocket salad and a slow poached egg for $21.
Or a Nourish Bowl of cauliflower quinoa rice, cashew lemon dressing, sweet potato strings, avocado, seed mix, maple soy vinaigrette and a choice of protein for $18.50.
There’s also a mushroom bagel with roasted mushrooms, avocado, halloumi, onion jam, kale pesto, red pepper, spinach for $12.50, or a breakfast bagel at $11.50.
They also offer wraps for $7 and raw balls $4.50 and during lunchtime on a Monday or Tuesdays they have a special one dollar coffee with lunch.
As I sat sipping one of the best fresh chai lattes I’ve had I pondered:
- Situated opposite The Perth Mint it’s a great place to sit and watch the world go by and the international conversations are very interesting.
- The cute side window is a nice design edition that lets you see how busy the café is before you reach the front door.
- I love the sound of the food especially the healthy focus and extra mile they go to e.g. the seed mix made up of chai, flax, sunflower, sesame, and pepita.
- I look forward to going back when I have more time to try the Nourish bowl.
