The other day I meet four fellow bloggers for lunch. While we regularly chat online we rarely have time to catch up in person. This chance meeting had me pondering … where do bloggers go for lunch when they’re not previewing, reviewing, photographing or generally staring at their laptops waiting for inspiration to come?
Our chief blogger settled on The Raw Kitchen in Fremantle and it was a great choice. Air kisses done, and meals ordered it was time to settle in.
When the meals arrived at the table they looked plentiful and delicious. Not holding back we all reached for … our cameras to cement in history the meals we were about to destroy. As all bloggers know, if it’s not in the camera it didn’t happen.
The pizza was devoured before we had a chance to realise that the base wasn’t made of flour. A vigorous discussion eschewed as we all pondered what the base could have been if it wasn’t flour. We all agreed that we’d failed a basic blogger test of taking the time examine what was in front of us before we eliminated it. In the end we all agreed that no matter what it was it was delicious. I have no idea was the base was made out of, buckwheat maybe, but it was light and didn’t get in the way of the fresh crunchy broccoli and sundried tomato topping.
The bowl of lentil dahl with shaved green apples was rich and so filling even with four people around the table we couldn’t finish it all, and no we weren’t being polite.
The nachos were unique, fresh and again too much to finish.
Even though we couldn’t finish the mains we somehow managed to make room for dessert, funny that. Against my hips better judgement I chose the chocolate tart. It was a super rich, creamy moose with a base made out of finely crushed nuts. Exquisite is the only word to describe it.
As we placed our cameras in our bags and said our goodbyes I pondered …
- It was a delight to go out with a group of people who understood the need to photograph the food (and from more than one angle), we didn’t even have to ask.
- I’ll definitely be going back for the pizza again and oh okay yes the chocolate tart if you insist.
- It was a wonderful raw food odyssey with a blissful ending.
Would you believe the food was so good I went back the very next week to pick up some cakes for a meeting. My meeting was at 11am in Fremantle and The Raw Kitchen wasn’t open yet. Maybe it was the panicked look on my face I don’t know but I was thrilled when the employee working in a side window went to check with the manager. To my surprise they opened the heavy doors just for me and let me pick out several pieces. Now that’s what you call good customer service.
