Melbourne Cup Day is synonymous with style. For months females have been planning their outfits, researching, refining and returning. Then there are our male folk. Consumer research repeatedly tells us of men’s ability to treat shopping as a speed sport. No sooner have they entered a store than they want to get out. - Male shoppers can make their choice without even having to step inside the store. They just have to pass by the window.
- There are only three options available.
- And if they’re still having trouble making a decision there’s this sweetener … you get a watch too.
Suit, tie and watch all purchased within the time it takes to walk into the store and hand over their credit card. That’s got to be a PB for some.
The only snag that I can see in this strategy is the dreaded ‘oh god is he wearing the same suit as me?’ dilemma. But hopefully a couple of beers will fix that.

Being a speed shopper I’d appreciate any improvement a shop can provide to further increase my selecting speed. I don’t care how many other blokes I see wearing the same outfit that I have chosen. Just proves that we have good taste. But I can also understand the ladies being upset if they run into another in the same outfit. Anyway the ladies always look 100% better then their male counterparts. But the idea of a few beers or a good wine appeals, so long as I am not driving.
That’s a good way of looking at it Anon. I hope you had a win and got home safely
