Perth has been known as the Hi Vis capital of Australia for several years now thanks to the mining booms. Things have died down a little lately which raises the question – what to do with all those leftover bright yellow jackets? This years Telstra Perth Fashion Festival provided a solution.

As part of this years Future Runway show, emerging W.A. designers were given the challenge of turning Hi Vis gear into fashion statements. The winner was Alexandra Xu from Curtin University.

So I ponder …
- Will we see a revision to the mine site dress codes? Although I’m not sure the footwear would pass safety standards.
- The winning dress might suffer a Marilyn moment in high winds.
- Wonder what the challenge will be next year? Ideas anyone??
