My Toast addiction

1

Since moving to an inner city abode I think I’m in danger of developing a new addiction … Toast. No I don’t mean the standard wheaty squares of goodness I mean Toast, the café in East Perth.

First up there’s the blissfully relaxed atmosphere and the Claisebrook view. A perfect place for some Me Time.

Then the menu, a vast array of things you can put on toast. The vegetarian breakfast was huge. Two poached eggs, spinach, corn fritter, thick bread and the best tomatoes I’ve ever eaten.

Honestly, I was stopped in my tracks and insisted that my friends try them, even though they thought I was mad, saying that a tomato is a tomato, but then they tried them. They too were shocked, so much so we had to ask how they were cooked. The answer … in balsamic vinegar and brown sugar.
Spectacular.

The Eggs Florentine were also well received.

So too the tea, opening the lid on the teapot we found real tea leaves not teabags, and they were smiling.

That’s probably because the teapot didn’t leak into the saucer and across the table when you poured it … unheard of in so many cafes.

Then there’s the interesting mix of paraphernalia, old fans, interesting water bottles, vintage seats.

Toast is fast becoming my regular oasis in the city. Hope you get to check it out soon. In the meantime here’s a few more photos and a link.

There are a few stairs to get down to it, but if that’s a problem there’s a lift in the Royal Hotel that you can slip into.
