Spoilt for choice with Thai restaurants (Royal Siam)

1

Perth seems to have an abundance of great Thai restaurants at the moment, or maybe I’ve just been lucky with the ones I’ve been to. I’ve already told you about Full Moon in Mount Lawley (link), the other day I found the Royal Siam in East Perth.

I’ve driven past Royal Siam on several occasions and finally made it inside with three friends in tow.

The food was great value. We couldn’t finish the Yellow Chicken Curry and had rice left over, which was a first we often have to ask for more.

More important though was the quality, our dishes were fresh and full of wonderful spices. We all agreed we didn’t know what they’d done to the fish dish (above) but it was soft and moreish, I’ll definitely go back for that one.

Another plus for us (a table of four women trying to catch up on three months worth of major life events), the staff knew when to interrupt and when to leave us alone. In another restaurant they might have asked us to leave once we’d finished our meal, or pressured us to order more, which we couldn’t possibly fit in. It was a delight not to be hassled (there were two other free tables so we didn’t feel too bad about lingering).

I recommend you book or go early to make sure you get a table as it’s only a small restaurant.

If you’re taking someone out for a ‘deep and meaningful’ I suggest you go early as it can get a bit noisy, especially if there’s a few large groups in. Not quite as good as the Full Moon but definitely worth a visit.
