Innercity life brings both rewards and pitfalls. One problem can be the lack of green space, which as we know, can sap our positive outlook. In the 1980’s it was all the rage to add plants to your home. Maiden Hair Ferns were a hit for a while, then terrariums and Money Plants. Later their impact on air quality was heavily debated, as so they were banished out to the garden again. A month ago I stumbled across a solution that employed a craft first used in 3rd- 5th century AD Roman times. Given Perth’s growing innercity subculture I thought you might like to ponder the possibilities it provides …

Gardeners have stressed the importance of water-wise gardens, well this goes one better …no water at all. The almost forgotten art of knitting has been used to create a range of leaves that could be hung in strategically identified positions. I’m sure a Feng Shu expert could advise you best.

If leaves or knitting aren’t your thing, what about grass?
