Suprise at Bollywood Rest.O.Bar

2

For many years now I’ve gone to see movies at Event Cinema Innaloo and completely bypassed Bollywood Rest.O.Bar located right next door. I had a vague memory of an earlier incarnation on the site, which included crushed nuts on the floor and all singing all dancing wait staff. Consequently when Bollywood Rest.O.Bar arrived I had visions of waitresses shimmying meals to your table. A friend recently convinced me to give it a try and I was surprised in more ways than one …

With reason to celebrate we bypassed the beautiful pink, black and white mosaic bar at the end of the room and settled in for a feast.

The menu was a massive collection of traditional and new Indian dishes, like Goan Fish Curry, Malai Kofta, Goat Curry, Fish Masala, Tandoori Chops. At least we could agree on the bread.
Finally we settled for a Lamb Vindaloo

As usual the serving looked small but the richness and flavour took us by surprise. We didn’t get to the bottom of either dish.
Pondering the potential curry and heat overload we also ordered a cooling salad. Fresh tomatoes and cucumbers sat off to one side, like a first aid kit in a childcare centre.

A few mouthfuls into the meal, the salad was called into play. Selecting a large piece of cucumber, I put it in my mouth, bit down and waited for the mounting fire to subside. Rather than wane the heat intensified. In our haste to catch up we’d ordered the wrong salad. What I thought was tomato sauce was chilli!

Bollywood Rest.O.Bar was a real surprise. The décor was beautiful, the staff extremely welcoming, the food rich and plentiful (in fact they gave us the leftovers to take home), and not a peanut shell in sight. Just make sure you order the right salad.
