A watery question about the Perth City To Surf

For those of you who completed, or even half completed, last weekend’s City to Surf Fun Run, I commend you. Anyone who spends their weekend running from the city to the surf, when perfectly good taxis are available should be blessed with a long life of good health. To that end I do have one question for you ….

What was the water tank for?

Is it the size of the cistern needed to flush that many portable toilets?

Or is it a water catchment system that collects the by-product of competitors pre-race nerves, and ferry’s the contents off to the middle of the desert, to rejuvenate dilapidated spinifex, and the odd backpacker?

Please, please tell me it’s not connected to the drinking fountains, or to the shower system that competitors run through to cool down. Given its strategic positioning next to the toilets, the very thought of it is enough to send me running to the hills in a spontaneous solo Surf to Hills Fun Run (sponsorship by Harpic Toilet Duck pending).
