The day before the state election you’d expect to see local politicians making the most of every photo op, yes? Yes. So it wasn’t surprising to see the Hon. Julie Bishop MP, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, at the launch of this year’s Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe. What was surprising however was ….

… the one-on-one campaigning strategy she appeared to be adopting. That’s her at the far end of Sue Roberts piece ‘The Listrumpet’, ready to give her message to anyone passing by. Still I guess there weren’t many options available, given the decided lack of babies around to smooch.

Looking at this photo I did ponder …
- I hope Sue Roberts, has a collection of Listrumpets stored away in her back shed. If they win we may see the ‘Julie Pipe’ rolled out across Australia over the next six months.
- Honestly though who’d be a politician not only do you have to give inspiring speeches at a moments notice, you have to willingly pose for the weirdest, most compromising photos, and do so with a smile.
Definitely not a job for me. The Ponder Room will remain non-political.
Happy voting everyone!

Would be interesting to see some politicians sculptures by the sea.
Perhaps a soap box or a loud hailer or even
“Hansards” in bronze. How about the Speaker’s chair or gavel?
Must ponder on
Great pondering Anonymous. Who knows you may have given some artists some ideas for next year, we’ll have to wait and see. I love your pondering please keep it you.
