Last night I made my way to the Art Gallery of WA for the Picasso to Warhol Film Festival Closing Party. Put on by the Friends of the Art Gallery it was another great night full of good company, amazing food and a wealth of information about an icons art, and way of life. There’s so much to ponder on that I’ve split it into two posts.

The scene was set with a gleaming car at the door of the gallery.

Once inside we were offered an array of drinks including a vodka and cranberry concoction (from memory).

Then came a spread of American inspired treats like salmon and sour cream bagels, roast beef sandwiches, chips, prawns, cookies and the richest brownies ever.

All beautifully presented and lovingly served by ‘Friends’, which only added to the ‘one big family’ atmosphere.
The early evening entertainment included some astounding moves by the Hullabaloo Hoppers who performed at the edge of the crowd.
I found myself pondering … there’s something deliciously guilty about munching on calorific laden morsels, while watching people giving their all to physical exertion. As they hopped, twirled and swung around us, the audiences passion for dance was soon reignited, and I overheard some reminiscing about a past life spent dancing, and the desire to reignite it again.
This first part of the night was made even better by catching up with some of the people I’d meet during the year at other ‘Friends’ events. I can honestly say that the ‘Friends’ events are aptly named. The organisers go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and they soon have you chatting with complete strangers as if you’d known them for years. As you can probably tell I thoroughly recommend these events and hope to meet some of you at one next year.
