In these days of shrinking appliances where encyclopaedias have been condensed into eBooks and family medical records into Apps, it’s interesting to ponder whether there’s still a place for old technology. This year’s Pride Parade suggested five examples of were that might be so.
Firstly there was an old Fiat Bambino.
There’s nothing quite like cramming as many people as you can into a Fiat for fun.
Yes I know there is an updated model but as far as I know it hasn’t given rise to the plethora of people squishing that the old one did.
Next came …
An old iron bed being powered by a unicycle.

Sure there was a golden clad angel peddling the unicycle but still, somehow I don’t think you’d get the same effect with a 10 speed and Sealy Postupedic
There was another example of peddle power, a bike that had been modified to include an over the shoulder night light.

There was also a double decker bus, disguised as a moving affirmation.

But the best one for me was …
Seeing the return of the megaphone. No doubt someone will create an App, if they haven’t already, that turns your iPhone into a megaphone, but would it send the same sense of subversion as a megaphone being waved about without mercy … I ponder?
