After all it’s only human nature (Hopman Cup Ball #4)

When I read that the Australian band Human Nature (Human Nature) was going to appear at the ball I have to admit I wasn’t fazed either way. Even though they’re doing great things overseas with regular gigs in Vegas and had had 17 top 40 hits, their music was a long way from making it into my ipod.

So I was very surprised to find myself having a boogie with the rest of the crowd. This was even more surprising given it was quite early in the evening, pre-dessert in fact.
The band was in Perth to perform two shows at the Burswood Theatre that night, and had dropped in to sing a few tunes in between shows.

Right from the outset the entire crowd (minus the odd table loving guest) was on the dance floor, singing along to songs like ‘I’ll be there’, most delighting in doing all the actions. This may or may not have included me, after all what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
With such a great vibe the band decided to stay on longer than anticipated. While bopping away I pondered whether the crowd paying to see the Theatre show was getting restless, no doubt once the band started all would be forgotten.
Post dessert, 2006 Australian Idol contestant Chris Murphy (Chris Murphy) took up the challenge and drew the punters back to the dance floor until way past 2am.
The question remains … do I need to re-think my ipod playlist?
