Amanda asked whether Byron Bay had been taken over with fast food outlets. I can report back from the frontline that I didn’t see one revolving bucket, oversized hamburger, flattened out ‘road kill-esk’ chicken, narrow one way driveway, or voice muffling box with a stick up it.

There was a new Woolworths in the middle of town which evidently caused considerable unrest when it appeared.
I’m not sure if Pot Belly Pies counts as a fast food chain. I guess it could be a franchise, but it didn’t appear fast food-ish. For example the pie came in a brown paper bag and then there’s the food quality. See what you think….???

Skyscraper high puff pastry and real veggies, not the usual bland peas and tiny square carrots. Full to the brim it had to be eaten with a fork.
I was so impressed I risked severe ridicule by taking a photo of it, while sitting on a rock at Main Beach amongst the super cool locals.
The garlic prawn one that strangely found its way into my hand the next day, was even better.

Now that I ponder about it….it’s just as well I was only in Byron for a short time or I’d have been in real danger of becoming Bryons representative for ….Miss, Bellys That Should Not See The Light Of Day 2011 (bathing suit not supplied).
