Would you or wouldn’t you? (Byron Bay)

5
Over the past ten days my brain reached pondering capacity. If I’m honest the red warning light started flashing around day four, but like any good addict I ignored it and pressed on cramming more and more adventures into each tiny unfulfilled crevice.

The catalyst for all this pondering? The chilled hedonism of Byron Bay.

I’ve been extremely fortunate to spend the past ten days in the NSW northern rivers area, researching an article for a Melbourne magazine, and attending the Byron Bay Writers Festival.

Back home now and flipping through my notebook of ideas, ‘to dos’, and people to contact, news is beginning to seep through about world events. Events like London, so far removed from the loving community atmosphere I’ve just left. Perhaps you’d like a break from world events too, if so……

Imagine you’re in your compact hire car meandering around curvy roads on the way to Mullumbimby to research Crystal Castle. Glancing to your right you see bay after bay of shimmering beaches, the waves rolling in like neat lines of corduroy.

Straight ahead the view is less desirable, and has been for several kilometres.
Surrounded by unspoiled nature it isn’t long before your inner nature calls, and with the prospect of more caravan lined roads ahead of you, a pit stop becomes paramount.
Stopping at the next service station you enquire whether their toilets are open and receive the news you wanted to hear.
Around the corner you open the door and stand taking in the sights….

no paper….
broken flush button…

Would you or wouldn’t you?

Was there a glint in the attendants eye or just a blind spot?

  1. Would prefer not to but probably would 🙂

Looking forward to read what else comes out of your notebook. I have a pile of such notebooks from various conferences and trips and I wish I could buy an extra year of my life to go through them properly!
